Description:
The Aquarium of the Black Perigord contains more than 3 million liters of fresh water, where more than 6,000 fish are presented.The particularities of this largest private aquarium with freshwater in Europe are that it has over 30 outdoor pools and 5 zones of visits covered.
The fish you'll find are presented whatever they are, migratory, predatory, from Asia, Africa or America (with its famous red piranhas).
Space feeding fish and diving area will impress you: to see a diver in the middle of the fish (carp and sturgeon) is a very nice show.
You will then arrive at Iguana Park, which presents in a lakeside village:
- Rhinoceros iguanas,
- Water monitor lizards,
- Turtles,
- A number of species of snakes,
- The green varans that live in a space made with waterfalls and bluffs.
Before leaving the Iguana Park, you will be able to watch the feeding of reptiles.
Planning:
Two hours allow you to know much more about fish and the other species shown.The aquarium is open daily from mid-February to mid-November:
- On February & March: from Monday to Saturday: from 13:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00,
- On April & May: from 10:00 to 18:00,
- On June: from 10.00 to 19.00,
- In July & August: from 9:00 to 19:00,
- On September: from 10.00 to 18.00,
- On October & November: from Monday to Saturday: from 13:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday: from 10:00 to 18:00. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.
Comments:
The aquarium is involved in extensive research on disinfectants in fish industry environment and conducts studies on fish feed and the pollution this generates.A mini golf course was created in a completely exotic tropical environment.
