Arromanches 360

Domaine(s) : Air & Space

Region : Basse Normandie

Description:

"Arromanches 360" places you completely inside the theater of the Overlord operations during the 8th of June, 1944, that is to say 2 days after the D-Day.
The first Phoenix caissons are installed (they are made with concrete floating caissons that were submerged by the Allies to build a deep water port in less than 7 days).
Floating causeways and platforms following the tidal movements complete the system.

The high-definition film projected on 9 screens tells the entire Battle of Normandy, this battle that was a decisive turning point in the World War II.

Planning:

The movies start each 10 minutes and 40 minutes of every hour.

The opening schedule of the museum is at the bottom of the page accessible by clicking here. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

We usually say that the port was used during 100 days.
Actually, to be accurate, it remained in service until December the 1st, 1944, but of course was mainly used in June and July 1944.

The shop has many books, films and other objects (models, ...).
