Description:

The museum tells 500 years of history of the Pechelbronn country following several approaches:
- The origin of oil
- The geology of the Rhine basin
- Mining oil sands
- Oil operations
- Refining of hydrocarbons.

Planning:

An hour & half allow to discover the museum, and two hours are required to follow the footpath.

The museum is open from April to October, on Thursdays, on Sundays and during bank holidays. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

The walking tour takes visitors into the environment of oil, going directly on five centuries old traces: a source of oil was in fact known on this site since the 15th century.

With a length of 4 to 5km without difficulty and that could be shortened if desired, this circuit requires good shoes.

Visiting the museum is often done after this mining and thermal (hot spring water) walk.
