Here is the chronology of what seems interesting for a two days walk at Les Eyzies: Day 1, morning: - The Museum of Prehistory is a very good entry point because it will introduce you to what you will need to understand in the following. Allow one to two hours of visit; Day 1, afternoon: - The Combarelles Cave will immerse you with its 600 paintings of wild animals for one hour. - The Font de Gaume Cave (reservations mandatory) will amaze you even more by its polychromy (a one hour visit); - The shelter of Cap Blanc (reservations mandatory) and - The shelter of Fish (reservations mandatory) to escape one hour each. Day 2, morning: - Visit of the sorcerer cave and his semi-troglodyte village (1 hour tour of the cave, followed by a walk through the village) Day 2, afternoon: - The best at teh end, the caves of the Rock Cazelle near the ones you will want to picnic then spend the entire afternoon to immerse yourself in the environment of our ancestors. For those who have more time or more for the fans, we also suggest to spend a week of five days of discoveries along the valley of the Vezere, that you will be able to find here below (Aquitaine & Midi-Pyrenees - 50,000 years ).
At last, when preparing your stay, be sure to book a visit to some caves (15 days to one month in advance to have a better chance of having a place). All details are given in the details here below in our website.
