Description:

The museum of the cutlery from the medieval city of Thiers immerses you in a very attractive way in the world of Thiers cutlery.

The House of Industrial Adventure and the Centre of Contemporary Art are located in the valley of the spinning wheels (Creux de l'Enfer).
A footpath, explained with panels, connects the downtown area and the bottom of the city (direct arrival on the House of Adventure, also called Factory of May) allowing visitors to follow the path of the workers of yesteryear.
You'll be immersed in the world of manufacturing of cutlery (Industry that has exists for 6 centuries in the vicinity) and more generally the artisanal life of yesteryear.

Planning:

The visit of the museum can take an hour, as well as the one of the Valley of Spinning wheels.

The museum is open at the following hours:
- From February to May and from October to December: from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
- In June and September: daily from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.,
- In July & August: daily from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The museum is closed in January, as well as on the 05/01, 12/24 and on the 12/25.

The last entry is 45 minutes prior the museum closes.

Valley of the wheel is open during the hours below:
- in June and September: daily from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.,
- In July and August: daily from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Comments:

Demonstrations, light and sound and movies allow you to escape in this secular atmosphere.
Displayed collections are also exceptional.

In addition to the medieval city, the two hiking paths along the valley Durolle in the Factories Valley and in the Spinning Wheels Valley are very nice.

The museum is accessible walking from downtown parkings (located in the Place du Palais).

La vallee des Rouets (The Valley Spinning wheels):
From Thiers, take the N89 and go to Chateau-Gaillard.
A shuttle service is set up in July and August to go to the Valley of spinning wheels from the Museum of Cutlery.

Thiers is located at 30 minutes at the East of Clermont-Ferrand.
The museum of Cutlery is located 100 meters from the church of Saint Genes and of the Place du Palais.

The Durolle river is all along the city from the North to the East. The valley of spinning wheels is upstream, from the East to South-West before the valley of the plants.
The Tourist Office is located approximately 100 meters to the West of the Place du Palais.
