National Days of Archaeology

Domaine(s) : Archeology

Description:

National Days of Archaeology (JNA : Journées Nationales d’Archéologie) are done under the leadership of the INRAP, thanks to 1,000 events at 600 different locations everywhere in France.
The list of the events is available in the official website. The link of this site is here below in this page.

The goal of the JNA is to open the doors and to set-up excavation archaeological areas, laboratories, museums, everything via scientists and amators.

You will see that archaeological researches are about prehistorical areas but also about World War I for example. All historical times are covered per the work of these researches, from prehistory until today.

Some events set-up for these JNA are general, some others are set-up for children to allow them to participate to excavations: from an event to another one, activities can differ a lot.

Planning:

JNA take place from the 17th to the 19th of June.
Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

Its goals and activities are defined in the law text L5321.1 of the Patrimony Code: « INRAP runs diagnostics and preventive archaeological excavations. It ensures the scientific analysis of these operations and the communication of their results. It participates to teach, to spread the cultural communication and to value the archaeology. ».
