Since more than 20 years, the objective of this event is to know and to appreciate the local heritage, landscapes and traditional skills.Among the 1500 events taking place throughout France and that are usually free, are organized :
- Hikes,
- Site visits,
- Discovery tours,
- Conferences,
- Entertainment for children & teens.

As example, the edition of 2009 which hosted about 200,000 people had the following theme:Roofs, towers, steeples ... Heritage height.
In 2015, the theme was "Middle Age still present".
More than 120,000 visitors enjoy each year the 1,500 free shows!
