Description:

The Ark of Refuge homes more than 150.000 animals over 150 species.
You will see very many animals of this special park, such as:
- Lions and tigers,
- Wolves ,
- Bears,
- Monkeys,
- Reptiles,
- Exotic birds.

Planning:

The visit takes about 2 hours.

The Ark of Refuge is open according to the schedule available here.
Note that the entrance closes one hour before the park.

Car parks, picnic areas and the park are shaded.
The Refuge does not have any restaurant. Only a bar is open on site.
Outdoor animals are not allowed in the park. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

The Ark of Refuge has been created in 1974 to help animals that have been victims of the man.
Run by a law of 1901 (non profitable association), CEPAN (Club of the Study and Protection of Animals and Nature), whom the main revenues are done via the entrance tickets, it is the most visited park of the department.

Note that at the Ark of Refuge is not a zoo: it is the only park of France empowered to home the animals seized by customs, coming from laboratories, from zoos or circuses, purchased in France or imported by private people.

From Laval, take the N162 direction South to Angers on a litle bit more than 30 km.
From Angers, take to the North the D323 direction to Laval to reach the D775 then the N162.
