The Castle of Foix

Description:

Real medieval fortress from the 10th century, the magnificent castle of Foix homes now and this since 1930 the county museum collections of the Ariege in the fields of prehistory, Gallo-Roman archeology and medieval age.

Are exhibited in the museum:
- Key chests, cathedra, parts of columns (dated from the twelfth century),
- Medieval weapons, war and ceremonial armors elements,
- A model illustrating the organization of a build area in the fourteenth century, with its actors and the construction techniques that were used,
- The monumental bed Henry the 4th.

Two new shows have been put in place in 2013:
- Andorra, Travel across the Pyrenees,
- Gaston Phoebus, enlightened prince of the Pyrenees

Foix is located at 87km away in the South of Toulouse (including 77km of motorway).

From Toulouse, take the A620 and then the E80.
Continue on the A61 / E80 and then the A66 / E09. Exit at Pamiers.
Continue on the N20 / E09 and take the exit 10 towards Foix.
