The Magne Tower

From the 32.5 at the top of the Magne Tower, itself located on the highest point of the city, the Mont Cavalier, you can admire the city of Nimes and compare its appearance from the time of the Roman Empire through its great viewpoint.

The Tour Magne is the only remnant of the Augustus enclosure that was 7km long and included 80 towers.

The Magne Tower has been used for a long time as guard tower of the Via Domitia, this road that was linking Italy to Spain.

Then it was used against the English during the Hundred Years War.


30 minutes to an hour allow you to enjoy the view and the historical development of the city.

Magne Tower was built in the 3rd century BC by the Gauls and then measured 18 meters high.
Its height was then doubled (36 meters so) by the Emperor Augustus.
It measures 32,5 meters high today.

Pets are not allowed in the Magne Tower.
