Description:

Hundreds of ships were built in the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire for nearly 150 years.
Thus, there is the pool C, which can accommodate vessels with a million tons!
The four largest tankers in the world were built here, each capable of carrying 500,000 tons of oil. These are the Batillus, the Bellamia, the Pierre Guillaumat and the Prairial.

During the visit, you will understand the organization and the logistics that are necessary to build these huge ships.
Different steps of their construction will be detailed.
Inside the shipyard will be explained how ships are constructed from metal plates to these gigantic vessels filled with high technology.

Planning:

The tour lasts 2 hours. It is mandatory to book in advance (2 days in advance is usually enough).

The annual closure of tourist facilities is from January the 1st to February the 5th. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

Since November the 6th, 2008, the shipyards are owned by STX France Cruise, a branch of the South Korean company STX Shipbuilding, at 50.01%, and also owned at 33.34% per the French government.

The start of the tour is dont at the submarine base in Saint-Nazaire. To get there, follow the signs 'VILLE-PORT'.

Pets are not allowed during the visit.
