 Three major themes are represented: - Mesopotamia, - Iran, - The countries of the Levant (Maghreb). The room 12a for instance will impress you with the exhibition of one of the 36 columns of the huge room that comes from the courtroom of a palace called the Apadana (see photo attached). Sets of polychrome glazed bricks of the palace from Darius the 1st to Susa are beautiful and perfectly preserved. In the Khorsabad room are shown the monumental reliefs that the king Sargon II had inaugurated in Khorsabad in 706 BC (see attached photo). You will see also many objects of the everyday life, such as - Jewelry, - Models of houses or places of worship such as the one called the 'Sit-Shamshi' or 'Sunrise Ceremony', - Tablets engraved with many texts (see photos) including the one containing the oldest known text in the Hurrian language dating from the 3rd millennium BC, or others with problems of geometry or arithmetic, - Many statues, - Cylinder seals used as signature, - Steles, - Iron or earthenware figurines, - Vases ...  The museum is open during the hours specified by clicking on the link here. Two hours are not too much to see the collections. Note that the entrance of Le Louvre on the first Sunday of each month is not free anymore (it was free these Sundays since 1996).
