 The mill of Neuville was founded in 1850. The oil is extracted from nuts, all harvested in Poitou. Its mode of operation is regional: individuals bring the kernels of nuts at the mill between January and March (between 30 and 40 tons per year) after a mandatory drying period starting in September or October.  The shop and visit opening schedules are: - From June to September: Shop: From Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 19:00 and on Sunday from 9:00 to 13:00, Visits: From Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 16:00 - From October to May: Shop: From Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 19:00, Visits: From Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 16:00. Three types of oil are produced here: - The extra quality, from very white and whole kernels, - The Harlequin, from darkest and whole kernels, - The Invalid, from broken kernels. The two other major producing regions are Isere with walnuts and Perigord, both holding an AOC. The mill of Neuville moved in 2012 along the RN147 in a modern space. Accompanied and guided tours are facilitated by a path that was set-up for this purpose. You will see: - The manufacture, - The projection room, - The cell room , and finally - The tasting room. The sales area offers homemade products and other local products. |
