Description:

The Islamic Arts Departement is planned to open in September or October 2012.

It will complete ideally the Oriental Antiques Departement giving an historical continuity of the master pieces that are shown in the museum.

Planning:

The museum is open during the hours specified by clicking on the link here.A full day is easily spent in the museum.
This allows to better target what to see more accurately during the following visit.

Note that the entrance of Le Louvre on the first Sunday of each month is not free anymore (it was free these Sundays since 1996). Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

Picture that have been taken in January 2012 show the roof of this new Departement, built in courtyard of the meseum.

The pictures have been taken from the windows of the room where is shown Mona Lisa (La Joconde).

The roof is expected to be a flying carpet, is with a golden color and is compound from many triangles that can be opened or closed to keep a good temperature in the exhibition areas.

Two levels of exhibition rooms are set-up below this 'flying carpet'.

More original and as easy as the subway: By batobus: Stop at Louvre, Quai Francois Mitterrand
By car: Parking is accessible via the Avenue General Lemonier daily from 7AM to 11PM.
By bus: Bus 21,24,27,39,48,68,69,72,81,95; Bus 'Paris Open Tour': Stop in front of the pyramid.

It happens that the queue line outside the great pyramide is very long. In this case, coming throught the underground commercial center of the Louvre allows you to reach quickly & easily the automatic machines to buy the tickets to visit the museum.
