Description:
Gingerbread is a tradition in Gertwiller for over two centuries. Brought back from the East by the Crusades at the 11th century, spices were also used for breads, which were made only in the cloisters and abbeys.

An avid collector since the age of 15, Michel Habsiger, owner of gingerbread Lips, has brought together more than 7,000 documents relating to bread, gingerbread, biscuits, chocolate, art and popular rural life of yesteryear.
