Description:

The Scriptorial of Avranches shows you millennia manuscripts fom the Mont Saint-Michel.
You will see in the museum how the Benedictine monks made parchments, inks and how they chose their pigments.
The illuminations will be explained and presented.

At the end of the visit are presented the original manuscripts in the treasure chamber.
You will then know the amount of work that has been needed for these books and how lucky they are and had to cross so well the centuries.

Planning:

The opening schedule of the museum is as follows:
- In July & August: from 10.00 to 19.00, daily;
- In May, June and September from 10:00 to 18:00 except on Mondays;
- From October to April: from Tuesday to Friday: from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:00; on Saturday and Sunday: from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00.
Closed in January, on May the 1st, on November the 1st and on December the 25th.

Ticketing stops one hour before the museum closes. Disclaimer : The management team of the destination has the possibility to change the opening days and hours without prior communication.

Comments:

The staging of the museum is particularly attractive and the visitor is immediately plunged into this world so calm and so attractive.

The museum is accessible to disable persons.

Admission for the dogs is prohibited inside the museum.

Cameras are banned also for the preservation of the displayed manuscripts.

Free parking for buses is provided; a 'drop' area is also available in front of the entrance of the museum.
